Native Origin Paintings
A few pieces from a body of work revolving around the past and present objectification of Native Americans. The work examines sporting iconography as a key form of present objectification, and uses metaphor and amphomorphic devices to reimagine events between the natives and traders/settlers in cities which are presently considered the "rust belt" and post-industrial. The work premiered in a solo exhibition at the Panta Rhei Gallery in Madrid (June, 2016). Works are 11"x15", mixed media on paper. From top to bottom: The Last Illinois in Checagou, Battle of Buffalo Creek, The Siege of Fort Detroit, and The Death & Burial of Chief Wahoo and Son.
